We teach Traditional Yang Style T’ai Chi Sword. It is a Chinese martial arts form following the principles of T’ai Chi, emphasizing a peaceful, non-combative approach to self-defense, respect of self and others, developing self-confidence, concentration, agility and balanced movement, and promoting self awareness. awareness of others, and one's surroundings.
In T’ai Chi Ch’uan, practicing with a sword/fan has developed into an important art form. In accordance with the principles of T’a Chi, the sword/fan are an excellent practice for good health as well as meditation in motion and a method for self-defense. They promote graceful and balanced movement, and the development and application of the inner energy (Chi).
The study of T’ai Chi sword is regarded as its own path which does not necessarily require the knowledge of the other forms of T’ai Chi. It offers a valuable source of concepts and new ideas for students of other martial arts, regardless of their backgrounds or current practices.
